Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.

Every now and then, I feel a little tingling inside-I'll call it enthusiasm-for sharing a little nugget of wisdom with the rest of the world. This tingling comes from my inclination to believe that just the right words placed side by side in elegant logical strands are precisely the things which can make or break this life of mine, depending on whether or not I adhere to their logic. Call it the religious extremist in me, but I think that living one's life in accordance with some sort of creed or better, 'wisdom of the ages', is a pretty wise thing to do, in and of itself.

Thus, I give you Benjamin Franklin. A man so goddamned wise he got bored with hobbies of a political nature and started fucking around with kites in storms. A man so wise and beloved that three times as many people went to his funeral than filled the seats at the lat BSU broncos football game. Even Jesus didn't have such a following at the time of his death! Sucka!

Anyway, my devoting a blog to the words of Franklin hopefully expresses my willingness to consider that the wisdom which will help me squeeze the most out of life emminates from other sources other than myself. Whereas with music and art I value innovation above nearly all other qualities, with knowledge I must admit that I am most concerned with results. I want to know that which is powerful enough to cause me to "seize the day" or "feel the day" as strongly as it can be seized or felt. Alas, my folly may be in my faith in the power of a few words arranged in elegant strands. God knows that the same sort of faith has gotten many people nowhere, or has led to tragedy (read "under the banner of heaven", in which men who believe that they are acting in accordance with wisdom from above end up "removing" people in a murderous way). Nevertheless, I'm not ready to stop thinking about how to commence the rest of my life in the best manner I can. I'm not ready to concede that a life spent acting completely spontaneously and freely, without consideration or planning, will turn out to be the best mode of living.

More clarification later, I hope
